Covia Labs to Participate on APCO Panel Addressing NG9-1-1, LTE And The Secure Delivery of Multimedia Information To First Responders

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIF. –– August 19, 2013 –– Covia Labs Inc. today announced that David Kahn, CEO of Covia Labs, will participate on the “Public Safety Ecosystem: NG9-1-1 to LTE” panel at the 2013 Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) conference in Anaheim, Calif. on August 21 at 3:45 p.m. PT.
The panel will review how LTE technology, including network infrastructure, devices, and applications could be utilized to connect citizens, PSAP dispatchers and First Responders. This panel is based on a current and planned trial with the Las Vegas Metro Police Department, the Nevada Department of Transportation, Nevada Energy and other agencies that provide a framework for emergency personnel in the field to receive real-time multimedia information including instant messaging, location updates, videos and photos. The system also includes a complex security infrastructure preventing unauthorized access, enabling on-the-scene personnel to receive information without unnecessary intervention.
Along with Kahn, co-panelists include: Kyle Connor, Director of Business Development at Cassidian Communications; and Wim Brouwer, CTO North America Public Safety at Alcatel Lucent.
Kahn has worked on contracts with U.S Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate’s (S&T), and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
